CBSE gets nearly 7 lakh applications for CTET exam

The Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) has received the highest number of applications from Uttar Pradesh followed by Bihar and Delhi, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Secratary Anurag Tripathi said.

After the number of applicants increased beyond the capacity of schools and colleges in Patna and Guwahati, The CBSE has increased the number of examination centres in Bihar and Assam.

"The highest numbers of applications have been received from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Bihar and Delhi. From UP, approximately 7 lakh applications were received, over 2 lakh from Bihar and approximately one lakh from Delhi," CBSE Secratary Tripathi and Director CTET, told ANI.

The dates to make online corrections for the candidates has also extended by the CBSE, i.e. April 7 from April 1.

"Over 1,38,000 applications were received for Patna and over 63,200 for Muzaffarpur centres in Bihar", CBSE Secratary said.

Over 62,300 applicants have applied for Guwahati as their centre, he added.

"We have added four new centres in Bihar apart from Patna and Muzaffarpur. Now the exam will also be held in Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, and Vaishali. We have received over 2 lakh applications from Bihar."

"From Assam, over 62,300 applications were received. In Assam, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, and Silchar have been added as the new centres," said Tripathi.

According to CBSE official release, the candidates may opt for any three preferential cities for the examination.

Moreover, the candidates who have earlier opt Patna and Guwahati are informed to modifiy their preference of examination cities from the new list.

The CTET 2019 examination will be conducted on July 7, in twenty languages at 97 cities across the country.
