๐Ÿ‘‰Facebook Messenger might return to the main app, letting the users to access their social media feeds and messages in one single digital platform as it was earlier.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The Messenger app icon would remain, but instead of launching a standalone app, it would open Facebook and take you directly to a section called "Chats."

๐Ÿ‘‰ It is similar to how it was during the initial days of Facebook in 2011.

๐Ÿ‘‰ This comes in the backdrop of the plans of the company to unify its Whatsapp, Messenger and Instagram messaging apps, adding end-to-end encryption to ensure user privacy. They continue to work as standalone apps, but share the same underlying architecture. Facebook reportedly has thousands of developers working on the project, with a plan to complete it in late 2019 or early 2020.
